About Grits

GRITS is an award-winning Christian rap duo from Nashville, Tennessee. Stacey “Coffee” Jones and Teron “Bonafide” Carter were backup dancers for dc Talk before signing with Gotee Records and making their debut in 1995 with the album Mental Releases. Their jazz-hop sound evolved to a more commercial hip-hop by the release of 1999’s Grammatical Revolution featuring the single “They All Fall Down”.

Their follow-up album The Art of Translation scored them more hits with the salsa-sampling single “Here We Go” and another hit “Ooh Ahh” featuring former dc Talk mentor TobyMac.

After 9 albums and a double-disc greatest hits release, the duo decided to start their own record label Revolution Arts. They independently released the critically-acclaimed Reiterate (2008) and Quarantine (2010) before retiring the group to pursue solo endeavors.
