Greyson Michael Chance (born August 16th, 1997) is an American pop singer-songwriter and pianist from Edmond, Oklahoma.
Chance first gained national attention at the age of twelve after a video posted to his Youtube channel of him performing Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi" went viral, with over 56 million views as of May 2016. The video was viewed by television host Ellen Degeneres. This led to Degeneres inviting Chance onto The Ellen Degeneres Show on May 13th, 2010. She signed him to her new label, eleveneleven, within three weeks of his appearance.
Chance’s debut studio album, Hold On ‘til the Night, was preceded by two singles – “Waiting Outside the Lines” and “Unfriend You”, in October, 2010 and May, 2011, respectively. Once released, Hold On ‘til the Night was met with mixed to positive reviews.
After deciding to quit his musical career to go university to study law, Greyson Chance revived his musical career on March 15th, 2019 with the release of his second full-length album portraits which has a more personal touch to it since this was the first time he could actually influence the writing and production process himself.
