A fine actor who acted in such films as History of the World, Part I, The Cotton Club, and Running Scared, Gregory Hines (1946-2003) was even better known as a tap dancer who won a Tony Award for Jelly’s Last Jam and earned Tony nominations for several other Broadway shows. A tireless advocate for tap dance, his pupils included Savion Glover.
