Grave Digger is a German heavy metal band formed in November 1980 by Chris Boltendahl and Peter Masson in Gladbeck, Nordrhein-Westfalen.
They released their debut album Heavy Metal Breakdown in 1984. After a couple of albums more, Grave Digger decided to change their name to Digger and commercialize their sound, but this failed and they disbanded in 1987.
Boltendahl went on to form the band Hawaii with Uwe Lulis, releasing a couple of demos in 1989 before renaming the band to Grave Digger again in 1991.
