Goldfrapp is an English electronic music duo comprised of Alison Goldfrapp (vocals, lyrics, synthesizer, music) and Will Gregory (synthesizer, music).
Formed in 1999 after being introduced by mutual friends, the two bonded over their disparate and esoteric taste in music (polish disco, spaghetti western soundtracks, British folk, etc.) and almost immediately began composing songs for what would become their acclaimed debut LP Felt Mountain (2000).
Over the next decade and a half, the band achieved cult, critical, and commercial success over the span of seven extremely diverse albums that continually expanded and refined the band’s sound, from icy electronica, to pastoral psychedelia, to ‘80s stadium anthems, and noir balladry.
