Kevin Godley & Lol Creme had been friends since childhood, having grown up on the same street. They attended art school and began their music careers, with notable projects under the names of Yellow Bellow Room Boom, Frabjoy & Runcible Spoon, and Hotlegs (the latter with Eric Stewart). The two were friends with Graham Gouldman, and the four of them teamed up to become 10cc, one of the most influential bands of the art rock genre. Godley & Creme left the group in September of 1976 to start their own project called “Consequences”, which despite its failure, didn’t stop the duo from creating more music until their break-up in 1989. Eventually, in 1980, they began their career as music video directors, working for artists such as Visage, Toyah, Duran Duran, The Police, Herbie Hancock, Asia, Yes, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and Wang Chung. They also created influential videos for themselves, such as their tracks “An Englishman In New York”, “Wide Boy”, “Save a Mountain For Me” and “Cry”.
