About Godflesh

Godflesh is an industrial metal band from Birmingham, England that practically pioneered the genre itself. The group began with their previous project “Fall of Because”, but did not release any music until 1988 when G.C. Green and Justin Broadrick renamed the band Godflesh. Their music consists of slow tempo, harsh machine beats, distorted guitar, and guttural vocals. Following the release of their influential debut “Streetcleaner”, their music came to inspire artists such as Faith No More, Fear Factory, Rammstein, and Nine Inch Nails. The album cover for Metallica’s “Reload” is actually from a Godflesh music video; Metallica’s Kirk Hammett goes as far to say that their music is the heaviest on earth.
