About Gerry Rafferty

Scottish singer-songwriter known for his solo hits “Baker Street”, “Right Down The Line” and “Get It Right Next Time”, as well as his time fronting Stealers Wheel whose 1973 song “Stuck In The Middle With You” sold over one million copies, eventually peaking at #6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Each well crafted song has his plaintive vocals with layers of interesting musical texture beneath.

After 1983, Rafferty distanced himself from the music industry he detested and only sporadically released music.

Even prior to 1983 Rafferty had distanced himself from the music industry, but his talent for song writing was like a curse that kept leading him back to the spot light.

Rafferty died of liver failure in 2011 as a result of his decades long battle with alcoholism.
