About George Daniel

George Bedford Daniel is the youngest member of British alternative rock band The 1975, as the drummer and back-up vocalist. He holds songwriting and producing credits for the group’s work.

Originally from Brussels, Belgium, George and his family changed locations quite often, ranging from states across America and then ending up in Wilmslow, England, just outside of Manchester. Through bassist Ross MacDonald, he met lead vocalist Matthew Healy and guitarist Adam Hann. Daniel told BBC 1 Radio in an interview that they knew of each other, but weren’t really friendly, until they came together to play a gig together at a charity event in Macclesfield. Daniel replaced Healy in percussion, who was attempting to simultaneously play drums and sing. The boys began writing songs together, publishing them under several different band names until they settled on The 1975 for good.

George has also worked with Matthew in producing Amber Bain’s music for her project known as The Japanese House. They’ve worked on two extended plays, Pools to Bathe In and Clean. More recently, the duo produced songs for label-mates Pale Waves.
