Geoff Farina

About Geoff Farina

Forming the musical act Karate (and his lo-fi folk-pop side project The Secret Stars) in 1993, Farina quickly established his unique musical style, drawing influences from various genres, most notably jazz, punk, emo, blues, and post-rock. These influences become apparent as Karate’s 6 LP discography transitions from one style to the next in their 12 years together.

After developing hearing problems, Farina was forced to disband Karate in 2005. His solo career, however, continues on as he writes, performs, and collaborates. His distinct voice, poetic, retrospective lyricism, and clean, technical guitar playing characterize his unique style as a singer/songwriter.

He currently resides in Chicago.
