“The Great Gatsby” has played more than one role in writer and producer, Josh Gabbard’s life. It came first in the form of the nightclub, The Rathskeller in Louisville, Kentucky, a historical club where his grandmother, a big-band singer, performed a residency in the 1940s. It also happened to be the same spot F. Scott Fitzgerald drew inspiration from and wrote his famed novel. It seemed so integral to his hometown and family history, it wasn’t something that could go unnoticed: so when he was choosing a name for his own artist project, his natural choice was: Gatsby.
Having spent the past few years sharpening his craft of storytelling, producing and songwriting for an array of artists, pop and otherwise, such as Ben Rector, Conner Matthews, and others. This journey has led him to his own path as Gatsby. Influenced by the R&B sounds of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Lauren Hill and Nat King Cole and such pop and hip-hop artists as Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Jay-Z and more, Gabbard has found his own voice soulfully in-between, and he’s ready to share it.
Gatsby prides himself on being authentic while inviting a very real perspective on love, relationships and life. His magnetic pop melodies exist on a music bed that is rooted in soul. With his sexy-swagger and fun personality, he is in his element entertaining and connecting with people.
Signed to Align Music Group, a company of Centric Entertainment, Gabbard will be releasing singles over the course of the next year.
