Born May 3, 1953, Gary Young is an American drummer best known for his involvement in indie-rock band, Pavement. He’s also well-known for doing handstands during shows and handing out food to fans before shows. He was the band’s founding drummer and played on their debut album, Slanted and Enchanted and the follow-up EP, Watery, Domestic. Both releases were recorded in his studio which is responsible for their ragged, lo-fi sound. In 1993, he was fired/quit from the band and worked with various other bands and projects.
