About GAIA (Duo)

The two-man front line, DJ/Producer Armin van Buuren and Producer Benno de Goeij (Rank1), have been recording and producing together since the ‘90s. After producing numerous successful albums and a variety of hit singles for Armin van Buuren it was time to form a new group/alter ego called GAIA to captivate the synthesis between old and new and transcend genres.

During Ultra Miami 2014, the mysterious duo Gaia performed for the very first time, finally giving a face to the elusive name. Well, not exactly… The hooded duo project have performed several times now in the their trademark, obscured outfits, keeping the mystery alive as to who, exactly the two performers are on stage.

Ever the champions of what is lovingly referred to as the “classic” trance sound, Gaia are not afraid to push the tempo, employing slowly evolving textures and slight modulations to fully evoke the feeling of trance as it was originally meant to be: a state of mind. Making classic records since 2000, Gaia was indeed ‘In Principio’ — at the forefront of the trance movement. Now they are back to where it all began, with a new release that will undoubtedly appeal to diehard fans and newcomers alike.

Oh, what a meteoric rise it’s been. Supported by a number of timeless, highly-acclaimed, and devastating tracks, the mysterious cloaked duo known only as ‘Gaia’ managed to convert so many of the Trance enthusiasts to their way of thinking, their way of life, and their way of music. But although such a legacy must be cherished, that doesn’t mean one cannot strengthen it any further.

Hand-picked by Armin van Buuren himself to be the first instant gratification of his mint ‘A State Of Trance 2016’ compilation, ‘Inyathi’ leads the charge on the rest of the global crowds in an attempt to reel them in to its side with stomping beats and soul-nourishing melodies. What started with ‘4 Elements’ and saw its fire re-lit through ‘Tuvan’ picked up pace through magical creations such as ‘Empire Of Hearts’ and ‘Carnation’, only to continue the rampage through ‘Inyathi’. Expect a true dance floor stampede whenever this one hits.
