Originally a 5-person group, G.R.L. will be making their return as a trio. Lauren Bennett and Natasha Slayton are the only original members and will be joined by Jazzy Mejia.
G.R.L. is a girl group that was formed by Robin Antin, best known for bringing together The Pussycat Dolls, but also created the Paradiso Girls, which Bennett was a member of as well.
Beginning in 2013, along with Bennett and Slayton, the original crew included Simone Battle, Emmalyn Estrada, and Paula van Oppen. Their first single “Vacation” was released alongside Britney Spears‘ “Ooh La La” to be included on the soundtrack for The Smurfs 2. Moving onto 2014, after achieving success with their feature on Pitbull’s “Wild Wild Love” in February, the group released their self-titled EP in July, spawning the successful single “Ugly Heart.”
In September 2014, Simone Battle was found dead in her home and the group took some time off. The following January in 2015, they released “Lighthouse,” a dedication to Battle. In June, it was announced that the group was disbanding. A year later, it was revealed that G.R.L. would be returning as a trio.
