Fudge’s biography on Lex Records‘ site:
Fudge is a collaboration between producer Prefuse 73 and emcee Michael Christmas.
Prefuse 73 is best known for his glitchy, abstract, instrumental hip hop. He has worked with hip hop legends Ghostface Killah, El-P, Mos Def, Mikah 9, MF DOOM and the GZA. Lady Parts is the first full-length album he has made with a rapper.
Michael Christmas is a 22 year old Boston emcee who has spent the last two years dropping his debut and sophomore mixtapes and touring the USA, opening for Logic and Mac Miller. He has a rare degree of charisma and realism that sets him apart from many of his peers in the ones-to-watch lists.
Fudge came together during several sessions in the summer and fall of 2015 at Nick Hook’s Green Point studio. Prefuse 73 brought along a hard drive full of beats. Christmas wrote to the instrumentals in the studio, and recorded the vocals the same day, as friends swung by to check it out. Some of the drop-ins at the studio ended up joining in the recording, not least D.R.A.M. who brings lifted soul vocals on the album track “All Points South.”
