Fred LaBour (born June 3rd, 1948) is perhaps better known as Too Slim, the Bass and face-playing “Man of Many Hats” in the Western swing band Riders In The Sky. Before forming the Riders in 1977, LaBour was already known to the public as being one of the perpetuators of the “Paul Is Dead” rumor in 1969 after writing a satirical piece for The Michigan Daily newspaper at the University of Michigan that looked for “clues” hidden across several Beatles albums. LaBour moved to Nashville in the mid-1970s, breaking into the music industry with “The World’s Most Broken Heart”, which was recorded by Tammy Wynette. In 1977, LaBour became a founding member Riders In The Sky (along with “Ranger Doug” Green and “Windy Bill” Collins). Over the years, LaBour would contribute many comedic songs and sketches that have helped shape the Riders into the band it is today.
