François-Joseph Gossec (1734-1829) was born to a farmer in present-day Belgium, and was impressive enough as a choirboy to be taken as a pupil by Jean-Philippe Rameau in Paris. His long life took in numerous political upheavals, and Gossec was a nimble enough operator to write music for the French Revolution, Napoleon, and the royal family.
François-Joseph Gossec's first song Gavotte released on Thu Jan 01 1970.
