About France Joli

France Joli (born February 2, 1963) is a Canadian singer and songwriter best known for her pop, disco and Hi-NRG hits.

Joli made her debut in 1979 at age sixteen with the Tony Green written and produced track “Come To Me.” The single, alongside Joli’s self-titled debut album, would be her biggest mainstream successes to date.
In 1980, Joli would release her second album Tonight, which spawned the lead single “This Time (I’m Giving It All I’ve Got).” While this attempt to garner further mainstream attention had proven unsuccessful, like most of her releases, the single did receive support within the dance club market. Despite the album’s poor performance, Joli would find another hit with follow-up singles “The Heart to Break the Heart” and “Feel Like Dancing” which achieved a joint position at #3.
Though her 1981 album Now! yet again failed to replicate the commercial success of her debut, it would give Joli the second biggest hit of her career with the single “Gonna Get Over You.” Now! would be Joli’s final album with Prelude Records and her last album to heavily feature her iconic disco-oriented sound.

In 1983 and 1985, Joli would release her fourth and fifth albums Attitude and Witch of Love with Epic Records. These would be the first releases in Joli’s career to feature her as a songwriter. Although her releases with Epic continued to earn her spots on the US Dance chart throughout the early ‘80s, Joli would never again see the mainstream success she had achieved earlier in her career, despite several attempts to broaden her sound and appeal. After the release of Witch of Love, Joli would be dropped from Epic and subsequently turn her focus towards touring and performing as opposed to recording.

In 1996, Joli returned with the single “Touch,” released on Popular Records.
While the original release of the single received little airplay, the song belatedly became a hit in clubs – reaching #24 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs chart – when new remixes by Darrin “Spike” Friedman were released on 12" single. Both “Touch” and follow-up single “Breakaway” would be featured on Joli’s first album in thirteen years, If You Love Me.

Joli continues to perform at clubs and private functions in the New York area and has also continued to record and release music under an independent label.
