Florence Welch is an English musician and songwriter, famous as the lead singer and co-founder of Florence + the Machine.

In 2006, Florence began performing with friend, Isabella Summers as ‘Florence Robot Is A Machine’ (a play on Summers' stage name, Isa Machine. They were managed by Mairead Nash who Florence impressed with her vocal range in a bathroom. Their first gig was in December 2006.

In 2007, Florence signed a contract to perform in the band Ashok (below), but was unhappy with it and later resigned.

In the same year, Florence and the Machine was formed – including both original members and several new musicians. They released their debut album, Lungs in 2009 to critical acclaim.

As of 2016, Florence Welch is touring with the band in promotion of their third album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.
