Flau'jae is an entertainer balancing her rap career with being a decorated basketball player. Born in Savannah, Georgia on November 3, 2003, Flau'jae Johnson is the daughter of rapper Jason “Camoflauge” Johnson, who was tragically murdered on May 19, 2003. Flau'jae’s name is a tribute to Camoflauge, and as she learned more about her father’s life, Flau'jae became determined to keep his legacy alive by becoming a rapper herself.
In 2017, 13-year-old Flau'jae competed for a record contract with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label in Season 3 of the Lifetime reality show The Rap Game. The following year, she performed the songs “Guns Down” and “I Can’t Lose” in Season 13 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent. On June 23, 2018, Flau'jae was awarded with a key to the city of her hometown Savannah, Georgia. She released several songs independently, which led to her signing a distribution deal with JAY-Z’s Roc Nation.
During her senior year as a basketball player at Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia, Flau'jae set the school record for points scored and she was honored as the Region 6-6A Player of the Year. She was selected as a McDonald’s All-American, she was the only female player invited to the Iverson Classic, and she earned the MVP award at the Jordan Brand Classic.
Flau'jae committed to Louisiana State University (LSU) in her “All Falls Down” music video, and part of the reason she chose LSU is because head coach Kim Mulkey encouraged her to continue her rap career. In her first season, Flau'jae was named Freshman of the Year in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and she helped LSU win their first national championship in women’s basketball on April 2, 2023.
Flau'jae has benefitted from the NIL deals allowing college players to profit off their own name, image, and likeness. She has signed NIL deals with Puma, Taco Bell, Meta, and JBL among others. When asked about her future, Flau'jae said the following:
I see myself being one of the biggest basketball players of all time and one of the greatest rappers of all time. That’s my goal, and nothing less than that. That’s what I want and that’s my legacy.
