Fitz and The Tantrums is an indie pop/neo soul band, featuring Michael Fitzpatrick as lead singer, and Noelle Scaggs as co-lead singer. The band also includes keyboardist Jeremy Ruzumna, saxophonist James King, bass player Joseph Karnes, and Percussionist John Wicks.
The band was started when in 2008, Fitzpatrick wrote the song “Breakin' the Chains of Love”. Fitzpatrick called James King, his college friend, who recommended singer Noelle Scaggs, and percussionist John Wicks. In turn, John Wicks brought bassist Joseph Karnes and keyboardist Jeremy Ruzumna to fully form the band. The band performed their first show at Hotel Café in Hollywood.
From there on, the band recorded four albums. This included the debut EP Songs for a Breakup, Vol. 1 released on August 11th, 2009, the debut studio album Pickin' Up the Pieces released in August 24th, 2010, their second studio album More than Just a Dream released on May 7th, 2013, and finally their self titled studio album, released on June 10th, 2016. In 2017, they have released the single “Fool” in June.
