About Fishmans

Fishmans was a Japanese dream pop, dub, and neo-psychedelia band formed in Tokyo in 1987.

Perhaps most well known for their 1996 Long Season album, Fishmans gained a cult following for their atmospheric, psychedelic, lush brand of ambient pop and psychedelia.

In December of 1998, the group recorded a farewell tour performance for their bassist Yuzuru Kashiwabara that was released the following year as 98.12.28 男達の別れ. However, the sudden death of frontman and vocalist Shinji Sato’s on March 15, 1999 forced them to disband, making that album the last thing Fishmans would record and release together.
