Felicia Lily Dobson is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She was born on February 28, 1985, in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. As a teenager, she was recording demo tapes to many American record labels. By the time Dobson was 18, the president of Universal Music Canada, Randy Lennox, showed interest in her, and asked her to audition for Island Records.
In late 2003, Fefe Dobson released her self-titled debut album, Fefe Dobson, at 18 years old. The album peaked at #67 on the Billboard 200 chart, #1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers Albums chart, and #26 on the Canadian Albums chart. She was also an opening act for Justin Timberlake on the European leg of his Justified World Tour.
Her sophomore album, Sunday Love, was set for a September 20, 2005 release, however, the album was cancelled for unknown reasons. During the album’s shelving, Fefe Dobson was dropped from her record label at the time. Dobson eventually released the album independently in 2006, and was later released for digital download in late 2012, as her third studio album.
Fefe Dobson’s long-awaited sophomore album (third recorded), Joy, was released on November 22, 2010, seven years after her debut. As she was recording her album, after two years, she was picked back up by Island Records, after speaking with ChartAttack.com in April 2007.
In early 2013, Fefe Dobson announced that she was working on her fourth studio album, tentatively titled Firebird, with a release date yet to be confirmed. She released the singles “Legacy”, “Celebrate”, and “In Better Hands”.
In the summer of 2018, Dobson released her latest single, “Save Me From LA”.
In 2020, Fefe Dobson collaborated with other Canadian-born artists, including Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, and Sarah McLachlan, credited as ArtistsCAN, on a song by Bill Withers called “Lean on Me” as a tribute to his death and to also raise funds for the Canadian Red Cross for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outside her music career, Dobson married fellow Canadian-born rapper, Yelawolf, on September 27, 2019.
