Eve’s first three albums have reached a total of over 8 million albums sold worldwide. She has also achieved success in fashion as she started a clothing line titled “Fetish.”

Eve was born in Germantown, a neighborhood on the northwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Julia Wilch-Jeffers, a publishing company supervisor, and Jerry Jeffers, a chemical plant supervisor. She adopted the name Gangsta in high school as part of an all-female group called EDGP (pronounced Egypt).

Joining the Ruff Ryders in 1998, she was deemed the “first lady” and after appearing on several features (including the Ryde or Die cut, “What U Want”, she released her debut album, Ruff Ryders' First Lady on September 21, 1999. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, making Eve one of the five female rappers to have a number-one album on the chart.

In the spring of 2001, she came back with her second album, Scorpion, which hit #6, but its lead single, “Let Me Blow Ya Mind”, reached #2 on the Hot 100 and earned the Philly femcee a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

In August 2002, she released her third album, Eve-Olution, but it did not perform well.

In the spring of 2007, she attempted her comeback by releasing the single, “Tambourine”, but the single performed decently.

She now lives in the United Kingdom, residing in London, England. Her latest album, Lip Lock, was released in May 2013. This is her first album in eleven years. She released the lead single “She Bad Bad” in October 2012. Here she talks about her comeback in the music industry.
