Ethan Green Hawke is an American actor, director and writer. His work has received many awards and praise, notably four Academy Award nominations, two Golden Globes, and a Tony Award. Apart from his acting work, he has also received praise for his writing and directing. In 1985, his debut film, Explorers, was released, but his breakthrough role was as Todd Anderson in the 1989 drama Dead Poets society. He also received commercial and critical praise for his roles in Reality Bites (1994), in which he co-starred alongside Winona Ryder, the Before trilogy, (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight, and more recently, The Black Phone (2021).
Ethan met his now ex-wife, Uma Thurman, on the set of the 1997 sci-fi film, Gattaca. They had multiple children, notably Maya Hawke, a singer and actress known for her role in Netflix’s Stranger Things, and more recently Do Revenge (2022).
Hawke’s music career has been mostly contained within his acting work, with covers of songs appearing in films such as Reality Bites. He has said in interviews that he has always been musically inclined and has had a successful career.
