About Emmure

Emmure is an American metalcore band founded in New Fairfield, Connecticut, in 2003, fronted by vocalist Frankie Palmeri. The band’s name refers to a form of execution where a person was trapped behind walls and simply left to die.

The band is known for its controversial lyrics and extreme nu-metal sound. They’ve appeared on several rock festivals including Rockstar Mayhem, Warped Tour and Knotfest, and have toured with Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, and Whitechapel. Victory Records released Emmure’s first six albums. Their next two came out on the SharpTone label.

Emmure has had its share of controversy, originally intending to name the first track of their 2014 album Eternal Enemies as “Bring A Gun To School” (but later changing it to “Untitled”). Founding member Ben Lionetti (who left in 2009) called Palmeri “a disgusting human being” over it as he and his brother (founding member Joe Lionetti) were suing the band and Victory Records over financial disputes.

Palmeri also started a clothing line in 2012, but it was shut down after releasing a t-shirt with the Columbine shooters on the front and the text “Shoot First Ask Questions Last” on the back.
