Mubarik Gyenne-Adams (born December 18, 1991), known professionally as Emay, is a rapper, emcee, and music producer from Hamilton, Ontario.

Mubarik began his musical career as a teenager when he released a mixtape entitled A.D.D. (Altered Dynamic Dimensions) that garnered online attention and led to his signing with independent music blog and record label Vinyl Meltdown to release his first official single entitled Child (Refugee). The following year, Emay collaborated on Ivan Ice & Emay and Seeing Suge, which expanded Emay’s connections in the music world and lead to multiple collaboration with British hip hop artist Star Slinger. The collaborations caught the attention of a blog and independent record label entitled Potholes Music, which Emay would sign with to release his first official extended play entitled Into It. The collaborations also caught the attention of a blog owned by Complex Magazine entitled Pigeons & Planes, and both Potholes in my Blog and Pigeons & Planes would continue to promote Emay’s music.

Emay’s second official extended play entitled Sinner, Song-Writer was released in 2014. Emay’s debut full-length album entitled Ilah was released in 2017.

Emay is known for his politically conscious lyrics, experimental sound, and thorough production work.
