Elmer Bernstein (1922-2004) was a prolific composer of film and TV scores, writing music for such films as The Magnificent Seven, The Ten Commandments, and Far From Heaven. He won an Oscar in 1967 for his score for Thoroughly Modern Millie. His career encompassed 14 Oscar and two Grammy nominations, as well as an Emmy award win.
