El Perro del Mar is a chamber pop and indie pop solo project created and run by singer-songwriter Sarah Assbring, a Swedish from Gothenburg. The name, created by Sarah after her knowledge of Spanish acquired in school, come from a nickname given to an unknown dog who crossed paths with her in a solitary occasion: sat on the beach sand, contemplating the sea at sunset in the end of a holiday spent in Spain, what she describes as “pathetic and desperate”.
