El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodríguez-López (Translated to “The New Group of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez”) was one of the many side projects of… (You guessed it) Omar Rodríguez-López. Originally a collaboration between himself alongside Hella and future Death Grips drummer Zach Hill, it would go on to later include Cedric Bixler-Zavala on vocals and Juan Alderete on bass guitar, both of whom were band-mates with Omar in The Mars Volta, as well as former Hella member Jonathan Hischke on Synth Bass.
