Eduard Khil (September 4, 1934 – June 4, 2012) was a Russian baritone singer, who was best known for singing the “Troll Song” (original title: “I am very glad, as I’m finally returning back home”), which circulated around the internet since 2010. The song became an internet sensation, and Khil’s popularity surged and became a world-renowned celebrity.
After his death in 2012, Eduard Khil was honored by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin commented:
