Dame Edith Sitwell (1887-1964) was one of three siblings born to a noble family in Yorkshire who achieved literary fame. She was known for her eccentric dress and style. She published poetry continuously from 1913, always looking for innovative techniques. In 1922, she wrote Façade, a performance piece made up of several poems meant to be recited over music composed by Sir William Walton.
