ECHLN (pronounced eh·shuh·lon) has spent a decade weaving together his signature aural aesthetic. Kwetsima Maluleke, the Cape Town record producer and audio engineer from Pretoria, began making beats at just 14 – and his years on the grind have earned him a midas touch, turning hours behind the mixing desk into liquid sonic gold.

Whether he’s or laying down soul-drenched house or poolside burners in the studio, ECHLN’s output is punctuated by glittering production and a restrained taste normally reserved for seasoned veterans of the game.

He has engineered for artists and collectives like Mavi Phoenix, Moozlie, J.Robb, Riky Rick and Moonchild – and collaborated with artists like Muzi, Hunter Rose and Langa Mavuso. ECHLN’s instinct for feel-good sounds and immaculately deep grooves has seen his music picked up by labels like Darker than Wax, Shimmy and Soul Etiquette, with upcoming releases planned for Kid Fonque’s local house authority, Stay True Sounds.
