About Dr. Barz

Nigerian born Victor Akpomon, a.k.a. Dr. Barz, is an unconventional afro-hiphop music artist. Born in the early ’90s in Benin, Nigeria; raised in the southern city of Port Harcourt.
His love for music began from his early years as he started writing music at a tender age of thirteen in college. Developing his music talent was his primary focus until graduation and national youth service when he let the cat out of the bag. He teamed up with a home based producer “Beatboxx Xclusiv” in 2017 to release his first ever single – “PH City” which received massive radio spins and fans reception.

He went on to release “Devil Dances Shoki” after a series of online freestyle video sessions which went viral. In 2018, he released “This Is Pitakwa” inspired by Falz. He made ties with ace producer Kingsville Creative in 2018 and together they released loads of wonderful projects, most notable was “GPH” which earned him positive reviews, airplay and a guest performance feature at a TEDx sponsored event.

He calls his genre “Lifehop music” which is a combination of other different genres and hiphop, while trying to address real life and relatable issues bothering the world at large.
Dr. Barz’ music is basically an expression of his vast life experiences and knowledge. With a voice texture and rhyme scheme likened to that of Kendrick Lamar, soul of J. Cole and the spirit of a Port Harcourt hustler, Dr. Barz produces all shades of dope any day.
