Dorsey Murdock Dixon was an American folk-country singer-songwriter who wrote songs based on his experiences working in a textile mill as a child.
He was born on October 14, 1897 in Darlington, South Carolina, and died on April 17, 1968. He started learning to play the guitar and the violin when he was 14. About a year later, he formed a duo with his younger brother Howard, and the two went on to play regular gigs around Rockingham, North Carolina.
