Đông Nhi was born as Mai Hồng Ngọc October 13th, 1988, in Hanoi, Vietnam, and is a singer, songwriter, producer, and all-around celebrity in the country.

Đông Nhi developed her talent in music in high school and had won many awards, but failed when it came to singing audition programs such as Vietnam Idol. Despite her failures, she was signed to NewGen Entertainment and made her debut in 2007 and easily became popular due to the rise of popularity in teen pop music. However, as her image was seen as too strong, she was neglected and dropped by her company.

In 2008, she released the single “Khóc”, which became a minor hit and successful enough for her to sign with a new company – Tinu Production Company. Though later, she would sign with 6th Sense Productions.

In 2012, her hard work paid off as she was slowly getting more recognition, which would continue to rise in the coming years. In the same year, her and then boyfriend Ông Cao Thắng founded 6th Sense Entertainment. In 2018, she would release her ten year anniversary album Ten on Ten.

In 2019, Đông Nhi would marry longtime partner and fellow celebrity singer-songwriter Ông Cao Thắng. The pair would eventually have their first child – a daughter, which the pair named Winnie, born in October of 2020 at VinMec International Hospital. The couple shared the happy moment on YouTube a month after the birth.

Despite only going on one hiatus and rough patches throughout her career, Đông Nhi remains one of the most successful female solo pop stars in the country.
