It is a consensus that DJ Wreckx is considered to be, if not the first, one the first DJs that introduced “turntablism” to South Korea. Although it is debatable to pinpoint the birth date of underground Hip Hop scene in South Korea, while HipHop was only recognized for its fashion and watered-down rap in early Kpop songs, the proper execution of the genre started to emerge to the music scene in 1997 through various online groups on PC-communication platforms – the precursor of the internet. DJ Wreckx was the pioneer that led the culture of turntablism and ran DJ academies and online vinyl stores, while collaborating with both Underground Hip Hop artists and Kpop stars.
