Born and raised in Los Angeles, Ronald Powell, known professionally as DJ Primetime, has always been enamored with music since he began playing the drums at the tender age of two years old. Primetime is a DJ and producer who’s best known for his utilization of live music and samples in his creation process.

Growing up he recalls being inspired by his father who was also a DJ and with hearing his mother continuously playing jazz music at home, it could be said that his career in music was destined. Although he played the drums in church throughout his youth, it wouldn’t be until 2016 when his song “Tear It Up” ft. Vinny West and Famous Uno went viral on Soundcloud (over 1.8 million views), and he would decide to pursue music full-time.

Inspired by the likes of DJ Khaled, Mustard, Quincy Jones, Pharrell, and Kanye, Primetime prides himself on his use of live instruments and sampling in his production stating that “energy never lies.”

Evident in his recent work with artists such as Sada baby, KalanFrFr, BlueBucksClan, 1TakeJay, Chris O’Bannon, YN jay, Babystone Gorillas, and k8do primetime has created a sizable buzz for himself that is equally impressive and hard to dismiss.

Now, Primetime is ready to show audiences beyond his city what he’s fully capable of as one of LA’s top disc jockeys. His project My Life Is A Movie, which is set to drop summer of 2022, will set the tone for what audiences can expect next from him. Primetime’s ultimate goal is to chart on Billboard and someday win a Grammy for his work.
