About Disciple Recordings

Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno ♛ ♜ ♞

Disciple Records is a record label and creative collective founded in 2013 by Robert Talbott (½ of Dodge & Fuski) and Ross Burr (Also known as Myro and ½ of Astronaut). Since its foundation, it has grown to be one of the most well-renowned and largest dubstep and bass music labels in the EDM scene, counting with over +250 releases, selling out shows such as the Hollywood Palladium in 2018 and even having its own imprint based on more riddim releases, Disciple Round Table.

The label’s founding origins comes from humble beginnings, Talbott and Burr used to live in Canada, where they stayed under a friend’s house making prototypes and building the label while they were only eating pizzas from seven to eleven dollars as a way to save money for the project. Burr had previous experience in the financial and musical side since his 14 years old, which served to pave the way for the label’s creation; with a mere hundred dollars from Burr’s earnings after a few Drum and Bass shows, Talbott and Burr moved to Los Angeles from the UK after founding Disciple Records in 2013, they would officially begin to build a community and contact interesting and promising artists for the label’s roster.

Initially considered and established as a “sister label” to Never Say Die Records during its first days because of the label’s founder SKisM’s blessings and closeness to Talbott and Burr, the first official label release would be Dodge & Fuski’s 2013 extended play, Remixed, a small compilation of remixes of previous tracks from the duo released on the aforementioned label, Never Say Die Records.

As the months passed, they discovered two artists with a few followers on Soundcloud and almost unknown at the time, Barely Alive and Virtual Riot. Talbott and Burr contacted them to release projects on the label, with Barely Alive’s Lost In the Internet EP, and Virtual Riot’s We’re Not Alone EP being their debut releases and then being signed to the label.

Over the years, the Label has grown to become a family-based label among producers, signing artists exclusively to their brand, such as Bainbridge, Bandlez, Barely Alive, beastboi., Dirtyphonics, Ecraze, Eliminate, Graphyt, INFEKT, Oliverse, Samplifire, Terravita, Virtual Riot and Virus Syndicate — The label would release the Disciple Alliance installments with exclusive songs from the signed artists since 2014, then including a mega-collab track for the first time ever on the Volume 4 with “Get Lemon”, this would become a tradition inside the label that would continue with Volume 5’s, “We Don’t Play”, and Volume 6’s “How We Roll”, unfortunately, Volume 7 wouldn’t contain a mega-collab track and it would be the last installment released under the label’s name.

The label has made alliances with big names such as Monstercat, Bassrush and Insomniac, alongside releases from important artists in both the EDM and mainstream scenes, to name a few such as SLANDER, Subtronics, Sullivan King, Shaquille O'Neal (DJ DIESEL), Pegboard Nerds, Crankdat, Getter, Habstrakt, Liquid Stranger, Spag Heddy, Trolley Snatcha, MUST DIE!, as well as giving up-and-coming artists new notoriety towards a larger audience, showcasing new faces and sounds into the scene.
