‘96 was a great year to be born for Dirty Perc, an emerging Hip-Hop recording artist, singer, songwriter, and producer. But aside from the golden era of pop culture, 1996 will shape a yet to be written legacy for years to come.

Born Grant Robertson in Bristol, Tennessee, Dirty Perc’s parents noticed he had a love for rhythm as a toddler and could even hold a tune. Even his nursery teachers eluded that is was very rare for kids to be so musically inclined at such an early stage of life. “He has more rhythm than Elvis,” one teacher dared to utter. And it was THAT genuine blasphemy that took his parents by surprise.

A virtually untaught musician, Percy cherry picked what he needed from church choir and guitar lessons. It was here where he would begin to create his own style and begin to gravitate towards urban music. Along the way, Percy’s passion for music grew where he found his first love as a Hip-Hop recording artist and self-taught producer. Constantly on the move with his family, Percy had to teach himself how to produce and record his own vocals, but the writing came from within his soul, as the fire behind the pen has always been innate.

In Deep Ellum, Texas, Dirty Perc received his first real taste of the business behind the music when a chance encounter afforded him the opportunity to book emerging Roc Nation recording artist, Belly, for a last minute session at Legacy Music Group, where Percy had ties as an in-house music producer. Percy was able to briefly watch one of his favorite artists work and the desire to be great grew even brighter.

Dirty Perc’s artistic influences have come from listening to the likes of Eminem, Kanye West, T.I, Jay-Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Mike Stud, and Wiz Khalifa (to name a few). This eclectic mix of artistry inspires Perc to craft his own sound and thrive within not only Hip-Hop, but R&B and Pop genres alike.

Dirty Perc has plans to release his debut EP, “Nice 2 Know,” on his birthday, September of 2018. Now the stage is set for Perc to emerge as a new artist in a field of up and coming stars such as Russ, Roy Woods, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Blackbear and Bryson Tiller. Perseus is ready to make a wave and it’s time to begin his journey to the top.
