Walter Long Jr., also known as John Walt and dinnerwithjohn, was a Chicago-based rapper. Born and raised on the West Side, he was a member of the Pivot Gang hip-hop collective alongside his cousins Joseph Chilliams and Saba.
Walt was fatally stabbed in a street altercation on February 8, 2017. He was 24. Pivot Gang tweeted a reaction to the news:
Shortly after the rapper’s death, his mother founded the John Walt Foundation, which provide scholarships to young people ages 14 to 24 who are interested in arts-based careers.
