About Diesel Machine

Formed in the mid 1990’s Diesel Machine (Stylized DIESEL MACHINE) is an Groove Metal band from Los Angeles, California, they released their debut album “Torture Test” in 2000, however while working on material for their sophomore album in 2002, the band went on hiatus due to the near-fatal motorcycle accident of their bassist Rich Gonzales. With Diesel Machine on hold, the members of the band decided to focus on other projects.

However, on April 1st, 2019, the band announced that they were back in action after their almost 17 year long hiatus, releasing the song “Shut It” along with an announcement that they were working on their first album in nearly two decades titled “Evolve”, and giving it a tentative 2020 release date. With “Evolve” being released on the 21st of August 2020 to praise all across the metal scene, the band shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Diesel Machine Is:
A.J. Cavalier – Vocals
Patrick Lachman – Guitar
Rich Gonzales – Bass
Shane Gaalaas – Drums

Before Diesel Machine reunited:

A.J. Cavalier would go on to form the band “One Percent Soul” before becoming the replacement vocalist (and rhythm guitarist after Shaun Glass’s departure in 2007) for the Nu-Metal group “SOiL”, after their original vocalist Ryan McCombs left in 2004 to be with his family (later joining fellow Nu-Metal act “Drowning Pool”). While with SOiL, A.J. would preform on the albums “True Self” in 2006, and “Picture Perfect” in 2009, the latter of which had a successful radio single called “The Lesser Man”, Picture Perfect would be his last album with the band however, as he (and drummer Tom Schofield) would leave SOiL in 2010, with Ryan McCombs leaving Drowning Pool to finally reunite with SOiL in 2011 as their permanent vocalist.

Patrick Lachman would go on to continue his work with “Halford” (Rob Halford of Judas Preist’s solo band), having already preformed on their album “Resurrection” in 2000, and their 2001 live album “Live Insurrection”, he would record “Crucible” with the band in 2002, and although his performances would be used on later releases such as the “Fourging the Fire” EP in 2003, and the compilation album “Metal God Essentials, Vol. 1” in 2006, Crucible would be his last album with Halford as he would leave in 2002, only to join the newly formed supergroup “Damageplan” as their vocalist in 2003. Created by Vinnie Paul and “Dimebag” Darrel Abbott after the death of their previous band “Pantera”, “Damageplan” would go on to release one album, “New Found Power” in 2004 to commercial success, with the 2 hit singles “Save Me” and “Pride”. Sadly, that would be Damageplan’s only album as on December 8, 2004, a crazed fan would shoot and kill Dimebag Darrel and 3 others, effectively ending the project (with the songs recorded before his death still remaining unreleased). Lachman wouldn’t remain inactive for long however, starting the band “The Mercy Clinic” in 2005, the band would write and demo upwards of 20 songs and played frequent shows in the L.A. area but ultimately failed to land a record deal, causing the project to be put on hold.
