Demetori is an instrumental metal doujin circle for the video game series Touhou. Most of their discography consists of metal renditions of the game’s soundtrack. Their style is marked by a fusion of progressive rock, power metal, and jazz, employing technical musicianship with blistering solos and atypical rhythms alongside melodic leads and orchestral flourishes. Notably, much of their music utilizes 7 or 8-string guitars, instrumentation not often seen outside of extreme metal. This gives many of their riffs a deeper, chunkier sound reminiscent of djent bands such as Meshuggah, but allows them to retain the melodic emphasis for which the Touhou soundtrack is renown.
Demetori has very few live performances – if any at all – and little is known about the group aside from the identity of the two members, Tokunan (徳南) and Kyuuhouji (九宝時). They are actually twin brothers, and they often collaborate in other doujin circles as well.
Tokunan (徳南) – Guitar, bass, synth
Kyuuhouji (九宝時) – Drums, percussion, programming, mixing, mastering
