The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is an American multi-film franchise and shared fictional universe that is centered on a series of superhero films, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, based on characters that appear in publications by DC Comics. Much like the original DC Universe in comic books and its competitor Marvel Studios’s MCU, the shared universe was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast and characters.
Thus far, the DCEU has released three films: Man of Steel (2013), Batman V. Superman and Suicide Squad (both in 2016). The next ones are Wonder Woman and Justice League in 2017.
