David Langhard (born 1976) has been an infamous presence in the Winterthur music scene for more than twenty years. Best known for his long time alter ego, Admiral James T., he’s also fronted and performed in several other bands over the years. In addition to his rockabilly and blues inspired works, he lives a second life as an electronic musician under the banner of Neutral Zone.
In 2014, he retired the good Admiral and took up his current project, HOWLONG WOLF, a Swiss super group consisting of Martin Prader of Prader & Knecht, Christa Helbling of Tesla Death Ray, Ernst David Hangartner of The Homestories, and Daniel Bachmann of Klaus Johann Grobe.
He owns and operates the recording studio Dala Studios and the label Dala Produkte, focused on analog recordings that “even your parents like.”
In 2017, David was awarded the Kulturpreis 2017 by the City of Winterthur in recognition of the impact his career and works have had on the city’s music scene. This marks the first time in the history of the Winterthur Kulturpreis that the award was given to a rock/pop artist.
