David Burns (June 22, 1902 – March 12, 1971) was an American actor and singer. He debuted on Broadway in 1921 in Polly Preferred and his first musical was Face the Music in 1932. Since then he has appeared in many comedies and musicals. Burns won two Tony Awards for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performances in The Music Man and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. He died on the stage of a heart attack during the out-of-town tryout of 70, Girls, 70.
