Darren Korb is an American composer and songwriter. Korb is most famous for his work with Supergiant Games, composing their game soundtracks — Bastion: Original Soundtrack, Transistor Original Soundtrack and Pyre: Original Soundtrack.
The Spike Video Game Awards (VGAs) awarded Korb with both the Best Original Score and Best Song in a Game for “Build That Wall (Zia’s Theme)”. The soundtrack was praised by media outlets — Kotaku placed Bastion’s soundtrack as one of the best in 2011. By November 2011, the soundtrack had sold over 30,000 copies, a success in video game soundtracks, especially for an indie developer such as Supergiant Games.
Similarly, Transistor was awarded just as much, if not more, acclaim. Touch Arcade reviewed the soundtrack, noting that “Darren Korb’s music is astounding, rich and evocative as it echoes across the game and perfectly complements the bright yet mysterious world of Transistor.” The soundtrack garnered many awards nominations and won several including New York Videogame Critics Circle’s Best Music in a Game and SXSX Gaming Awards‘ Excellence in Musical Score.
