Grammy Nominated, Darren Heelis is a Mixer, Engineer, Producer / Programmer based in London.
Starting his career at Livingston Studios, Darren then moved onto The Pierce Rooms assisting the likes of Steve Fitzmaurice and Tom Elmhirst before becoming a freelance engineer himself.
Darren has mixed for a large variety of artists, including Sam Smith, Tom Walker, Liam Payne, Mae Muller, Sonia Stein, SG Lewis, Morcheeba, Cloves and Lyra to name a few.
He has been involved in 12 UK number ones, including extensive work on Sam Smith’s debut album, “In The Lonely Hour” for which he received an “Album Of The Year” Grammy nomination. Darren also engineered on “The Thrill Of It All” which went to Number 1 in the UK and USA simultaneously as well as engineering and playing bass on “Writing’s On The Wall” which was the first ever James Bond theme to go to number 1.
Other highlights include working with Disco Legend, Giorgio Moroder, recording for Ryan Hewitt on the Lumineers third album which went to number 2 in the US and working with Mary J. Blige.
Recent projects include, mixes for Mae Muller, Lilla Vargen, Son Of Town Hall, Fougere, The Hour, various recordings for Sam Smith, engineering on legendary Japanese artists, Utada Hikaru and Mr. Children as well as mixing new Morcheeba tracks.
