Darko Dimitrov (born in Skopje on January 21, 1973) is a Macedonian songwriter, arranger, composer, and producer. He graduated Faculty of Music on the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, and he has been involved in music since 1990. He works at his own studio “Dimitrovi”. He is the grandson of the operatic and traditional singer Blagoj Petrov and the son of the singer and composer Slave Dimitrov.
After his father’s suggestion, he was the first in the region to combine rap and folk genres in 1991 in the song “Otvori Go Pendžerčeto”, performed by Mirko Mitrevski and the group Nulta Pozitiv. He only collaborated with them until 1996, after he started collaborating with other performers.
He published a compilation in 1999 under the name 100% hits: Najdobroto Od Darko Dimitrov. It was the best seller, first a cassette, then a compact disc. In 2002 he founded M2 production from Macedonia Music. That year, MM, in cooperation with M2 production, created the first talent show in the former Yugoslavia. He was a jury member in the first season of IDJShow, with Teodora and Relja. He was a mentor to Natalie Balmix, Ermina Hajdarević, Emel Franca and the group 4YU.
He has been awarded for production and arrangements in different countries. He is a multiple winners in Albania at one of the biggest festivals, “Kënga Magjike”, as well as at “Sunčane Skale” in Montenegro, at Macedonian festivals, at MACFEST, etc…
He collaborated with group Hurricane, Jelena Tomašević, Marija Šerifović, Lena Kovačević, Emina Jahović, Anastasija Ražnatović, Lina Pejovska, Elena Kitić, Zoi, and many more.
