About Danger Radio

Danger Radio was an American rock band from Edmonds, Washington.

Danger Radio’s lead vocalist Andrew de Torres met the band’s drummer, Nico Hartikainen, in 1999 when they were both in seventh grade. Along with Marvin Kunkel on bass guitar, they started playing at talent shows and different venues around Seattle. Matt Goodwin and Spencer Mertel joined as guitarists. They recorded a few demos under the name Chasing Tomorrow, but soon changed their name to Danger Radio.

They released their first EP, The Difference Between Love and Envy in 2004, produced by Casey Bates.

In 2005, Goodwin and Mertel left the band and were replaced with Andy Brookins and Elan Wright. Jackson Kellock joined on keyboard, making Danger Radio a six man band. They then recorded a demo that had early versions of song that would be featured on the Punch Your Lights Out EP.

In late 2006, Jackson Kellock left the band. He was replaced by Spencer Phillips in 2007. With the new lineup, Danger Radio was signed to Photo Finish Records and released their first official EP, Punch Your Lights Out.

The band’s first full length album, Used and Abused was released on July 8th, 2008, and reached No. 17 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Danger Radio then toured with PlayRadioPlay!, We The Kings, Metro Station, Forever the Sickest Kids, The Maine, The Cab, The Audition and Envy On the Coast.

Danger Radio was going to play Warped Tour during the summer of 2008, but dropped out to tour with Cute Is What We Aim For, Ace Enders, and Powerspace.
